Legislative budget plan announced
AB 109 soon to emerge in print
Leaders of the California State Senate and Assembly have announced a “two party” (legislative) budget plan, expected to be considered in the Legislature on Monday as Assembly Bill (AB) 109, the 2026-27 Budget Bill. (Senate Bill 109, a mirror version of AB 109, also may emerge into print in the next few days.) Other budget bills jr. and trailer bills will follow in the coming weeks.
A Senate summary of the plan is online here. An Assembly summary of the plan is online here.
AB 109, as amended to reflect the legislative budget plan, emerged into print at 10:59 pm on June 11, 2026.
This sets the stage for up to two weeks of budget negotiations between the Legislature and the Governor. Later budget bill amendments are expected to reflect a future “three party” deal between the two houses and the state’s chief executive.
