Early action budget bill in print

The April 2024 early action “budget bill jr.,” SB 106/AB 106, emerged in print on Saturday, April 6, just before 10 a.m. The bill contains a few billion dollars of net reductions to prior budgeted amounts. Via a procedure in Section 77 of the bill, the vast majority of the early action spending adjustments—primarily affecting amounts previously planned for expenditure in the 2024-25 fiscal year—will be reflected in May deficit estimates.

Floor votes are expected on AB 106 or SB 106 on or about Thursday, April 11, with budget committee hearings prior to that. Additional hearing information and analysis will appear on budget committee websites of the Assembly and Senate.
