Assembly budget spot bills introduced

Will later become 2023 and 2024 budget legislation

ABs 100-220. Assemblymember Ting, chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, has introduced Assembly Bills (ABs) 100 through 220, budget spot bills that later will be amended to become budget bills and bills related to the budget. ABs 100-220 are expected to be in print at leginfo.legislature.ca.gov later tonight, January 9, 2023.

Future SBs Anticipated. Senate Bills (SBs) similar to ABs 100-220 are expected to be introduced in the Senate in due course.

AB 35 and SB 25. AB 35 and SB 25 previously were introduced as anticipated budget vehicles related to the treatment of student loan debt under California’s personal income tax law.

Governor’s Budget Bill Proposal. An additional SB and AB will be introduced in the coming days to fulfill the requirement in Article IV, Section 12(c)(2), of the California Constitution that each house’s budget chair introduce the Governor’s proposed budget bill.

Almost All 2023-2024 Budget Bills Will Be One of These Bills. By tracking these ABs and SBs, advocates, staff, and the public will learn of virtually all legislative budget proposals during 2023 and 2024 as they are introduced in bill form.
